Degrees of Interest

Today was a good day. :)
Astronomy was *neat*. Watched a video on Einstein and General Relativity, theories of unification, quantum mechanics, and String Theory. Um. In all my English Lit focus and fear of mathematics and labs, I completely forgot how cool it all is. I love watching this stuff and hearing about it, but there is no way I could ever do more than take a class for dummies and geek out over the stuff that clicks in my brain. Unfortunately, just as they were about to really get into String Theory and explain it more thoroughly the professor stopped the video. And we're not going to continue because, really? You don't need to know that for Astronomy 101.
Philosophy was *canceled*. Woo. Good thing, 'cause I didn't really do the reading. I read parts of it and skimmed others, and skimming Philosophy texts is pretty much futile. You just can't get anything out of it. But at least it's not the ancient Greeks. Five page paper due next Friday. "You are required to identify an author's thesis and then frame an exegetical analysis of that thesis." Fun.
English was only an hour! Thank god. It's just boring. Maybe it will get better. We're supposed to be reading Frances Burney's Evelina for next week and I'm looking forward to that. It's something I've never read and always been kind of interested in picking up. Here's hoping the class gets even marginally more interesting.
Got a pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks. Seriously, Thanksgiving in a cup. So good.
Called Grandma to thank her for the gifts.
Watched SV tonight while getting some reading done. My god, for a moment I liked Lana and Clark together. Gasp! But then I got over it. There was something that I laughed hysterically at, I think, but I can't remember what it was. Some bad dialog I'm sure.
Whenever I feel bad about my own writing abilities, I will watch the WB and feel much better about myself. :)
OMG. Pete is on ER! Sam's Pete! David Deluise. I hope they don't kill him or his wife or his kid or whatever. He deserves better after being dumped. Oh, I guess his wife is crazy and hurts herself and they think she's going to hurt the baby, too. Postpartum depression. (They should get Tom Cruise on the show.) And now he and his wife are leaving and we'll never know if it's all okay. Oh, ER, you love to drive your viewers nuts, don't you?
