Merry Christmas!!
Dec. 25th, 2004 10:03 amI'm going to share a short story (100 words - 102 counting the title) written by Neil Gaiman. It's about Santa Claus.
Nicholas Was... (by Neil Gaiman)
older than sin, and his beard could grow no whiter. He wanted to die.
The dwarfish natives of the Arctic caverns did not speak his language, but conversed in their own, twittering tongue, conducted incomprehensible rituals, when they were not actually working in factories.
Once every year they forcedhim, sobbing and protesting, into Endless Night. During the journey he would stand near every child in the world, leave one of the dwarves' invisible gifts byits bedside. The children slept, frozen in time.
He envied Prometheus and Loki, Sisyphus and Judas. His punishment was harsher.
Ho.
Ho.
Ho.
So there you have it folks. Elves are evil. Merry Christmas!! :D
Leaving in awhile to go to Seattle. Yea. Weather still utterly uninteresting. Blah. Which is actually a good thing if we have to go over Snolqualmie Pass. Made off with some good Christmas morning pressies, plus an IOU for Jonathon Creek (omg! squee!!!!!) because, though it was apparently ordered a month ago, it still hasn't gotten here. Argh. Can't wait though because, yeah, Jonathon Creek!! Best British mystery show ever.
