Help keep a girl entertained? Snagged from everyone:

Ask me a fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general. Questions can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

Is there any pairing/fandom you've ever wanted to write for but didn't know how/where to start (or any other various reasons for not doing it)?

Oh gosh. Yes. But the first things that come to mind - Generation Kill (Brad/Nate), Southland (Cooper/Sherman), and Sherlock (Sherlock/John) - are all things that I have actually written in, though very briefly. They're all fandoms and pairings I'd like to revisit, though, so I'm not sure they count. But each does scare me because the characters are either very witty or intelligent or cutting (or all three) and I'm not sure I can ever write to match.

Otherwise, back in the day I was kind of interested in writing fic about Captain Jack Sparrow and Commodore Norrington from Pirates of the Caribbean, but had absolutely no clue how to go about it.

If you could take over a character's life for a day, which character would it be & what would you do/change/fix?

Have you ever tried to ship a pairing because it was popular, even if you didn't "get it"? If so, which pairing(s)? Did it work?

Re: writing fanfic. How do you do iiiiiiiiiit? Sorry, this isn't a real question. I'm just always making googly-eyes at your work because it's so damn good. Wish I could too! ♥

I asked my mom and all she could think of was Sauron. "Yeah," I said, "I wouldn't let that little bastard cut the ring from my finger!"

But, um. Hmmm. I really don't know. I think it would be sort of brilliant to be Sherlock for a day and experience how that mind works. (Plus, detective stories have always been my favorite.) Similarly, Castiel for a day would be fascinating. I'm not sure I'd change/fix anything (because that opens whole cans of worms), though I might smack Dean upside the head and remind him of the respect that should be shown. Otherwise, I think I'd just like to spend the day doing whatever the characters normally do.

This is horribly boring of me, isn't it?

Not that I can recall. Most of my pairings tend to head the popular route anyway, I think. Though I do have friends that occasionally ship different pairings than I do that I'll try to give a shot and find myself uninterested in. In that case, it juts kind of fades away.

How do you do iiiiiiiiiit?

::blush:: Thank you, hon.

Not a real question, but I'm going to answer anyway. ;P I don't know! I think if I knew I'd feel better about it. I am so grateful and happy that I have some little bit of talent to pull from, but how it works, I have no idea.

What are your top three het OTPs? Not in a reading fanfiction or getting involved in fandom sense necessarily, but in a they-make-me-so-happy-just-knowing-they're-together-even-if-they're-only-fictional sense.

If you could change the ending of any movie/tv show, what would it be, and how would you change it? If you can't narrow it down to one, that's ok. :)

My top three het OTPs are Ron/Hermione (Harry Potter), Anne/Wentworth (Persuasion), and - my OTP to end OTPs - John/Aeryn (Farscape). Farscape is a fantastic example of TPTB doing right by characters, relationship, and plot.

If you could change the ending of any movie/tv show, what would it be, and how would you change it?

Good question. Hmmm. My very first thought was Red: Werewolf Hunter (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1626201/), which was one of those horrible SyFy Saturday movies. I watched it with one of my BFFs and we both thought that, for what it was, it was actually pretty decent. And then the last two minutes happened.

Otherwise...I haven't seen the final episode of SGA, but considering there are things I'd still like to change about season five, I'm going to guess I'd want to change the end. I'd have more team-centric stuff, and I'd follow the Ronan/Kellar route. I really liked what they seemed to be starting with them, and then sort of dropped.

I'm sure there are probably others, but that's the main one I can think of at the moment. :)

Yeah, the latter half of season 5 of SGA (with the exception of "Vegas") was really bad. I would have been okay if TPTB had gone the Ronon/Keller route, but I personally really loved the idea of Ronon and Teyla. I never really cared for the whole "Athosian boyfriend" subplot, especially as that seemed like a device just to get Teyla pregnant. It's a classic example of showing vs. telling. We as viewers were told that Teyla cared about Kanaan, but we were never really shown that on screen. On the other hand, I felt like Ronon and Teyla had a lot of unexplored tension.

I sort of flip-flop on Ronon/Teyla. Which is funny, because I LOVE every scene they have where it's just the two of them. They complement each other so well. And you can easily see how much Ronon cares for Teyla.

You're right about Kanaan. That was a lot of tell, not show. Which is something I think the creators/writers of SGA (and SG-1) struggled with a bit anyway. I did like the side of Teyla it let us see, though. I feel like they sort of lost track of her in relation to her people for a while. I would have liked more of the Athosians.

Which I guess is the sort of team-related thing I would have liked to have seen more of in season five instead of time spent on new secondary characters.

ok, let's try... sorry for the lame q's XD

- a generally-disliked character that you love

- a popular character you dislike/are apathetic about

- have you ever lost your love for a fandom/pairing/character to the point where you don't want to write them anymore?

Not lame q's. I've been sitting her stumped on them for a while. Especially the first two.

a generally-disliked character that you love

I wouldn't say love necessarily, but I liked Dawn on Buffy. And, uh, iirc a lot of people really didn't.

a popular character you dislike/are apathetic about

James Potter. Was James popular? I haven't been in HP fandom for, like, ten years. Or, um, I guess you could say the Marauders in general. At Marauder age, though. I generally like their older selves. However, I do enjoy a bit of Sirius/Remus on occasion.

have you ever lost your love for a fandom/pairing/character to the point where you don't want to write them anymore?

Yes. Sheppard/McKay from Stargate Atlantis. I really disliked what the writers did with the show in the final season and I still haven't watched the series finale. It's not so much that I don't love the pairing or the characters anymore, I just...only revisit them when I'm feeling nostalgic.

Not that I ever wrote a lot of them that I actually posted. Or ever crossposted. Mostly I just read fic.

i wonder if dawn is like the campbells for some people, only worse bc she' was there all the time. XD

omg THEM'S FIGHTIN' WORDS. the marauders were my favorites. XD general opinion on james was that he was an okay character, i guess, though i came across people who hated him (snape fans, mostly)

I don't care enough to fight. :p It's funny, but Lupin was one of my favorite characters there for a really long time. I'm not sure what happened. But I never really felt connected to the rest of them like everyone else seemed to. I don't dislike them, I'm just...meh, yeah, apathetic.

Though I'm working on re-reading the series as a whole and I'm curious to see if that changes since I'm older now.

What fandoms do you want to collide?

What pairings do you miss writing or reading about for whatever reason you're no longer writing or reading them?

And . . .

What character do you think the writers have completely screwed over or wrote them cmpletely wrong?

What fandoms do you want to collide?

ALL OF THEM.

Um. But really...the most recent one is Sherlock/Hawaii Five-0. I think Sherlock and the coroner on H50 would find each other interesting. Kindred spirits. I also think Sherlock would have plenty to say about the H50 team (and them about him) and it would be fun to see Sherlock and John in sort of casual clothes. (Sherlock in a light, linen suit. John in shorts and flip-flops.)

What pairings do you miss writing or reading about for whatever reason you're no longer writing or reading them?

Sheppard/McKay and Clark/Lex are probably the top two.

What character do you think the writers have completely screwed over or wrote them cmpletely wrong?

Arthur in Merlin. I mean, not completely wrong or completely screwed over, but I think the writers are doing him a disservice by not making him smart enough to realize that Merlin has magic. I feel like it's getting a little ridiculous that he hasn't figured it out yet.
