SPN Drabble

In an attempt to get my writing flowing again,
mclachlan gave me some prompts.
One of the prompts was for a drabble about Dean's inner reaction to a certain event in 5.22. I'd be more specific, but there are fans on my flist who still haven't seen it. Shocking! Spoilers for the season finale, obviously.
Burst
Dean’s heart stops beating.
It doesn’t freeze or pause, just bursts in disbelief when Cas flies apart in bloody pieces. Fragile human body no longer holding anything, not even the shape that’s become so familiar to Dean he’d know it anywhere.
In the snap of a pair of fingers that once belonged to family, it’s reduced to red mist and wet chunks Dean can’t bear to look at.
If he lives through this, that moment will play against his eyelids whenever he closes them.
Every time will be like the first, and every time he’ll be incapable of stopping it.

Date: 2010-06-10 08:58 pm (UTC)Me too. Although for a second I thought that Dean might just be dreaming that Cas was alive. I guess I'm just so used to Kripke killing off my favorite characters that I just couldn't believe he was back so soon. Considering that Dean thought he was God I'm guessing he couldn't believe it either.
