Oh, Thursday
Mar. 26th, 2010 10:48 amI am almost completely unspoiled for the last part of Supernatural season five. So far everyone on my flist has been awesome keeping anything spoiler-related under a cut. Please don't forget, guys! It's pretty rare that I decide I don't want spoilers (I'm kind of a spoiler whore with other shows), but this is one of those times.
In other words, just continue to be your awesome cut-tagging selves. ;D
Supernatural - "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid"
So that episode...happened. ::shrug:: I dunno. I'm not saying it was bad or that I didn't enjoy it. It just was there, kind of...easing us back in.
- I loved how the commentary on the TV during the teaser reflected the man getting zombie-stalked. Tee-hee, wildebeest.
- "Who died and made you queen?" Dean is queen. So it is said, so it shall be. (He's also a pwetty, pwetty pwincess, but that's neither here nor there.)
- The sheriff is the mom from The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. Which, y'know, made me laugh. I was silly-happy to see her.
- Actually, the sheriff was one of my favorite parts of the episode. As much as it sucks that she's now lost both her son and her husband, I loved that when Sam pulled her out of her house she pulled herself together and did what had to be done.
- Loved the beginning with the FBI card and Bobby answering and the sheriff recognizing his voice.
Also, great chance to see the Winchester worldview versus the "real" world view. To them, Bobby is a father figure, the person they turn to, the man with the answers. To the everyone in his home town? He's the town drunk.
Makes me consider how the rest of the world sees Dean and Sam.
- Oh, Bobby. :( Bobby, Bobby, Bobby. Where are they going with this? Are they going to kill him? Are they going to red-herring us and make us think Bobby will no longer have anything to do with the Winchesters? Is he going to actually have nothing to do with the Winchesters? Is he going to say, "Fuck you, Lucifer and your little buddies, too?" Will he make one decision and change his mind later?
Don't kill Bobby, guys. Just...don't. :(
- Bobby and Karen. Karen remembering everything. Karen humming while she cooks. All of the pies. Karen and Dean. Karen knowing what was happening to her. The funeral pyre. :( My little sad smiley face cannot accurately convey how depressing that was. Oh, Bobby.
- Oh, speaking of decisions...there was a moment where I was like, "Way to not tell us what happened with Dean in the lot, guys." But then I remembered, oh yeah, that's what fanfiction is for. Fill in that blank. But did anything happen? Or nothing at all? Did Dean stay out there alone for half-an-hour and then Castiel found him? Or did something happen and we're just not going to find out until later?
- Right before the zombie attack at Bobby's I thought, hey, this would be a great set for some actual horror-movie style shenanigans. And then Mom was like, "Hey, isn't that the set from High School Musical 3?" and I was all, "Yup. Some little Zefron zombies are gonna show up any minute."
And then they did. Only, y'know, they were just zombies. Not Zefron. (omg, Dean would kick his ass like he'd kick Edward Cullen's.)
- Zombies picking the lock! "Don't you ever get tired of being wrong?" HA.
- Sam at the creepy house! That old woman totally reminded me of something from Drag Me to Hell. I loved Sam's whole "I'm going to regret this" thing.
I have been doing a lot of thinking on SPN over the hiatus, though not a lot of posting that wasn't fic related. It's because I...can't quite get excited for it like everyone else seems to be able to while it isn't about to be on or actually on. Since we're entering the last half of the season, I basically have this feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach because this can't end well for everyone. Someone's going to have to pay a price, and I don't care for the odds.
I had a dream a week or so ago where Bobby, Ellen, Jo, Dean, Sam, and Castiel were all in what looked to be an abandoned parking garage. (In Seattle, strangely. There was a view of Puget Sound.) Bad things were happening and I woke up feeling...gutted because I knew how things were going to turn out if I stayed asleep any longer.
So when I've got that going on in my head, it's hard to get super flaily the week beforehand because of the anxiety.
In other words, just continue to be your awesome cut-tagging selves. ;D

Date: 2010-03-27 01:43 am (UTC)I think you didn't enjoy it half as much because there wasn't any Cas. Plus they totally did not explain the whole Sam thing, first he's in lock down then...he's not.
Meh, h'anyway. At least they're talking about death finally, since the dude rose up a couple of months ago and I think the whole Bobby-being-depressed thing was to lead up to Sam + Dean getting shot by 'angry hunters' in the next episode.
And the Sheriff moments were awesome, especially the line of phones which made me go "holy shit".
And creepy house moment with Sam, totally awesome how he was basically vocalizing what everyone was thinking.
Plus I'm soo happy he appeared at the house when Dean was stuck gun-butting (is that even a word?) the zombies heads because they can pick locks (who knew).
To answer you're question, doesn't the rest of the world see Dean and Sam as homicidal maniacs?
Teehee wildebeest. :D

Date: 2010-03-27 10:26 pm (UTC)It's possible, but I'm not sure Cas would have made it much better for me. He'd just kind of...be there.
I think what gets me is that we're getting closer and closer to the end of the season but we're still not dealing heavily with the apocalypse. We keep getting these stand-alone episodes (which are pretty good, don't get me wrong, and which I generally enjoy) that give us bits and pieces that may or may not fit into the final picture. This is actually my first season watching the show as it happens, so it'll be interesting to see if everything comes together as nicely as I feel the other seasons do when watched all together.
I wonder how out-of-it with other hunters Bobby is given that he's pretty obviously been on Team Winchester?
especially the line of phones which made me go "holy shit"
I loved that line of phones! They've certainly got it worked out. At least until someone recognizes Bobby's voice. ;)

Haha. Yes! They're the guys that come into the diner late at night and keep to themselves and get quiet when you walk past their table. And you're sure that was blood on the sleeve of that guy's jacket.
