Currently re-reading Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince and rediscovering my love for the series. Somewhere along the line - before the last book - it went missing, which made me sad.

But last night I remembered just how great it can be to curl up with these characters.

Though I am not looking forward to reading the ending of this one again.

Also, still sick. Blaaaaaah. :(

Mary mary mary. I'm assuming you finished the series finally then. It took you so long. HOW DID YOU FALL OUT OF LOVE WITH THE SERIES?? I think maybe I fell in love later on because I waited until all the books were out to read them.

What is making me love it more is seeing series like Twiglight come out and try SO HARD to be the next big thing. And we just watched the Golden Compass movie. Kind of disliked it.

I do need to reread HBP before the movie comes out.

I HAVEN'T finished the series! I am re-reading HBP in preparation for the movie and to reacquaint myself with important plot developments. Then I will finally finish DH.

Well, okay, so maybe I didn't entirely fall out of love with the series, but for a while there I just wasn't that interested. Sometimes I am just contrary. I think it was a reaction to people around me being uber excited and I wanted to take a step back? I don't know; I really can't explain it. But what matters is that the love I had wasn't completely lost and that it's back now!

Oh, I have so many issues with the film version of The Golden Compass. SO many issues. Starting with the horrible pacing and ending with, well, the ending. The book is good. But I didn't finish the third book. By that point I didn't really care for the main characters.

I hate them trying to force the next big thing. They made a really crap movie out of The Dark is Rising. Which, as a series of books (http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Rising-Sequence-Silver-Greenwitch/dp/0020425651/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1236922682&sr=8-2), I totally recommend.

Oh man. I can't believe you never finished Harry!! You must know what happens? How could you avoid it. In my opinion, the last few books are vastly better - writerly speaking - than the first ones.

You know, I think I read those The Dark is Rising books in 4th grade, and didn't understand much of them. Perhaps its time to pick them up again. They sound really really familiar.

Nope, I don't know what happens. I am almost completely unspoiled, save for knowing about one or two deaths. I got a little over a third of the way through the seventh book when it originally came out and then got distracted by work and other things. Also, as long as it's unread, HP isn't over for me.

I need to re-read The Dark is Rising books. I read them in high school, I think, though I'd owned them for ages. There are all sorts of things I want to revisit reading-wise now.
