That just reminds me of the time I saw Nguigi wa Thiong'o at SU for Fr. Cobb's class and one of the Philosophy majors in the auditorium (he was in my Buddhism class) stode up and asked him where he got his ideas from.
I kinda facepalmed myself. You can ask a writer where they get their ideas from, but you won't necessarily get the kind of answer you want.
I like what one of my favorite author's has to say about writing and creativity, "You get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we're doing it."
I think the people who go to my mom for flowers go there for quailty. The boss just doesn't understand that they won't keep coming if the quality goes down the drain in favor of quantity.
