annundrielWatching the new trailer for the new Star Trek kind of makes me want to kick JJ Abrams in the head.
I got excited for the oh-so-familiar sound of red alert and the music at the end. The rest of it left me going...meh. Which makes me sad because the teaser trailer gave me goosebumps.
But! It does look shiny. It could be really good. I mean, I still want to see it. And I'm sure it'll be fun. But I was more excited before this.
I read an interview in Entertainment Weekly about ST and Abrams said he came in as someone who wasn't a fan of ST. On the one hand, I think that can be beneficial. Someone outside of the fold can come in and look at things with a new, different perspective. On the other hand, though, it's nice to have people who are fans because they sometimes understand better the importance of what comes before. Not that a non-fan can't do that as well. I'm just not in love with JJ Abrams like the rest of the world.
So instead of thinking about this, I'm going to go write NCISporn fic.
ETA: It's not that I want the movie to be campy or more like the original, since my own loyalties lie with Next Generation. Maybe it's just a me remembering how great the Star Wars trailers could look and how very disappointing the movies turned out to be. ::shrug:: I do like all of the pictures I'm seeing from it.
