Wednesdays are for Fashion
Sep. 3rd, 2008 10:58 pmProject Runway - 5.08
I love Diane von Furstenberg. And I am in love with that dress that they show in the American Express commercial, the one that has the same fabric Korto used. It gives me goosebumps.
Liked: Kenley, Korto, Leanne, Terri
Borderline: Jerell
Meh: Blayne, Joe, Stella, Suede
- How did Blayne not end up in the bottom three? HOW? That was just weird.
- There was something about the colors Jerell used that didn't quite work for me. Maybe it was just that bright blue belt. I don't know. It all seemed off.
- I don't know what Joe was doing. I liked the top to begin with, though I wanted to smack him around when he said "oriental." But then he paired it with that pink belt and everything just went downhill.
- Kenley's was cute. I liked that it was clean and simple. Plus, it looked very Kenley-like. I was just hoping she wouldn't go home on this challenge since it meant so much to her. How depressing would that be, to have someone you admire so greatly tell you that you sucked? As soon as Diane said she liked it, I knew at least Kenley would have that no matter what else happened.
- Korto's design was great, but not my favorite.
- Leanne's was my favorite. Since I'd seen the fabric Korto used on a different dress that I love, I was less into it than I might have been. But there was something just cool and classic about Leanne's. It definitely fit the challenge. Plus, I love fingerwaves in hair, so the whole look was really working for me.
- Stella's outfit didn't look as bad on the runway as I thought it was going to. Doesn't mean it was good though. And Stella gets sent home. With a really good attitude. I didn't always care for what she made, but I liked her personality.
- Suede's design was just odd. I don't know what to say about it. So instead I'll say that he had a talking head at one point tonight that made me think he's grown on me. I think he said something about being a spy but his blue hair giving him away? Or it may have been before that. Whatever it was, the way he said it made me love him a bit.
- Terri keeps doing what Terri does best. Which is great, 'cause it's good. But while I liked this week's design, I didn't think it was that new or different.
Plus, a new cycle of Top Model started tonight! Oh, what a guilty pleasure. The last few cycles I haven't been too impressed and/or interested, though I still watched. But this one? This one looks like it's going to be fabulous. There are already a bunch of girls I like and a bunch of girls that annoy me. A nice combination. Except for the part where I want to smack some of the ignorance and intolerance out of some of them.
One of the girls that didn't make it was a Harvard graduate, an English and American Literature major. When Tyra asked her who her favorite heroine was, she didn't have an answer. Tyra mentioned Jane Eyre and Rebecca. I was impressed that Tyra knew Rebecca. Then she asked her to model animals like Jack London's Call of the Wild. Every book she mentioned, the girl just shrugged and was like, "I don't know it." Either she is not good in interview scenarios, or Harvard should not have let her graduate. Holy crap.
Anyway, right now I'm loving Isis, Elina, Sheena, Analeigh, and Samantha. Samantha won me over with that story about her posing experience before (her dad being like, "Sam! Get in there with your brothers!" and then the goofy posing). Also liked McKey.
So, yes, excited about this season.

Date: 2008-09-04 06:39 am (UTC)I think Joe's was worse than Stella's.
Terri -I've definitely seen that shirt and that pant before.
I liked Blayne's :P What can I say? I'm just fond of that weird little fucker, I don't wanna see him go..

Date: 2008-09-04 06:44 am (UTC)The proportions of Blayne's were off. If the bottom half had been different, I think I would have liked it more.

Date: 2008-09-04 06:48 am (UTC)Yeah, the fullness and then the cuffs was a bit...huh?

Date: 2008-09-04 06:50 am (UTC)I liked the coat that Blayne made!

Date: 2008-09-04 02:42 pm (UTC)I realllly love ISIS. I feel for Marjorie and Hannah(Alaskan?) because they're SO different. I'm sure once they come out of the competition they'll be tigresses, but right now... wow.
Totally excited about this season's looking to be QUITE impressive!
I love the J's!

Date: 2008-09-04 07:21 pm (UTC)I want Isis to kick everyone's ass. I feel very "that'd show 'em" about it, but I love that she herself has no agenda. She just wants to be a model.
Marjorie and Hannah definitely have potential. And they're both kind of adorably nervous. Though watching Marjorie jitter in her talking-heads makes me feel jittery, too.
The J's are always the best! Even though I'm not digging Mr. J's hair color this season. Did you know he used to sing opera?

Date: 2008-09-04 02:44 pm (UTC)FTW!?!
I was yelling names of femme literary heroes!!
My roommate probably thought I had lost it. haha

Date: 2008-09-04 07:23 pm (UTC)Though I'll admit that when I tried to think of my favorite heroine, I fell a little short. I came up with a few that I admire. Oh, and just now thought of someone I could maybe claim as favorite. I'm just a slow thinker.

Date: 2008-09-04 03:29 pm (UTC)Also, the Harvard English department is probably uber embarrassed and *headdesk*-ing.
♥ you!

Date: 2008-09-04 07:26 pm (UTC)Harvard is scratching its head going, "What happened?" I was talking to Mom and trying to be more understanding about it with nerves and things. But Mom pointed out that having gone to Harvard, the girl should know how to present herself. So now I'm just headdesk-ing for English majors everywhere.

Date: 2008-09-04 10:47 pm (UTC)I'm...actually not minding Whitney so far. I think it was because I liked the style of commercial more than in previous years. I still dislike Nicole a LOT. REALLY A LOT.
I just finished watching Bones! So much love!
