SGA - "Missing"
I wasn't really expecting to enjoy this episode, but I really, really did. Almost everything in it was just right.
In the past we've had maybe, what, one other Teyla-centric episode? And that was in season one. It was really nice to focus on her for a change instead of having her relegated to B plot. I mean, she always shines as part of the team, but I loved getting a closer look at her without the guys.
And she is amazing, isn't she? Teyla just handles herself so well. I'm always impressed with how strong and focused she is. Tonight's episode made me long for fic about growing up in the Pegasus Galaxy.
There was a time in the beginning when I thought that Teyla could have been a little bit more understanding of Keller given the fact that she'd never experienced something like this before, but then I thought about it some more and there comes a time for tough love. Stuck in the wilderness and trying not to be killed by the maniacs? Definitely a time for tough love. I ended up thinking there was a nice balance between the two of them.
I hope that when Keller gets back on Atlantis she gets some weapons/survival training. Why aren't they training everyone regardless of what position they hold?
I still like Keller. And it was interesting to see her go from basically whiny to actually throwing herself at the fake Genii in an attempt to save them.
And finally we are getting some information about Teyla's personal life outside of Atlantis! Where have all the Athosians gone? Is Teyla's love interest still alive? As it stands, I'm really looking forward to seeing where this is going. I just really hope they follow up with bad guys (not even going to attempt figuring out how that's spelled) and the Athosians.
Can't leave this without saying that I was all sorts of happy seeing John and Rodney playing their little trivia game. It's always nice to see them playing together.
Also, there was the whole bit where the guys showed up and helped them out a little, and no one was made a fool of. Even though Rodney freaked out a little over the arrows, he held his own and lay down cover fire. Nice.
Plus, teasing in the 'jumper.

Date: 2007-11-15 09:46 pm (UTC)The Rodney/John/Ronon bits were excellent. The trivia games and Ronon all WTF, and the arrow in the ass chat in the 'jumper. Absolutely wonderful. And I liked the boys coming to the girls rescue.
I'm a little pissed with the ending. Teyla is either harboring an alien entity or she's with child. Well, I guess that's the same thing... Her comment about the man-friend [who is maybe experiencing man pain?] and how "nobody knows" just plays into her doing the horizontal monster mash with the Athosian.
And also? I LOVE DANNY TREJO! He is my hero. I forgot he was in this episode, so when I saw his name, I got all giddy. Then I forgot he was in it again, then when he showed up, I got all giddy again. I really do love him. And I liked the Bu....lo..kai? I like that there's another enemy that are all primitive without modern weapons. But speaking of which, why the hell didn't Teyla and Keller grab the axe and swords the dead enemies left behind? Seriously. A sharpened stick and a scalpel? Really?

missing her booty callwho has lost all of her people.Scifipedia says both "Bolokai" and "Bola Kai." Fandom seems to be settling on "Bolokai." Oh, Stargate, with your whacky alien things. At least there are no random apostrophes.
Also, Mom and I were both going "Take their weapons!!"
