Why am I so laaazy? There are things that I need to/should do but I keep putting them off while thinking, "Eh, I can do that tomorrow." It's not good behavior.

Or I end up thinking, "Well, I don't really need to do that anyway." Which is even worse.

I got a lot of school work done this weekend, but I also left a lot undone because it's nearing the end of the quarter and some things just aren't so important anymore.

Like Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God. Really enjoying. Lovely writing, but it's not what I'm going to write my final paper on so I'm just going to fake my way through class discussions and Angel assignments. That's one thing most English majors can do: bullshit.

So really the "lot of school work" I got done this weekend? Wasn't really all that much in the grand scheme of things because I basically focused on one class and finished reading Khaled Hosseini's The Kite Runner. I recommend it, but I recommend it with the warning that it is not a happy book. I marathoned the last 190 pages and there were several parts where I felt the need to set the book aside or throw it across the room (though I did neither) and curl up and cry. I was pretty emotionally drained by the end.

It was worth it, though. There were a few writing/plot things I had issues with, like the author's tendency to overly foreshadow everything. But for a first book that's probably a minor issue. At the very least the book is worth a read for a different look at Afghanistan, which is arguably why the book has become so popular in the US so fast.

Tomorrow (well, today) I need to really sit myself down and write and re-write things for various professors. Because weekends should be for relaxation and not activities that require thought.

I am so ready to be able to do nothing and not feel guilty about it. But, hey, only two days of classes and work this week! Yea, Thanksgiving!
