SG-1 - "Company of Thieves"

OMG THEY KILLED EMERSON.

That's really my overall reaction to the whole thing. Sad that what really sticks in my mind this week is the death of a secondary character. I was not happy. I liked him and the shot him point-blank and then shot him when he was down. Not cool.

And Sam being so sad when she returned to the rest of the Odyssey's crew. I was scared they were going to kill off Major Marks. That would have just made the episode suck that much more for me. Which isn't to say that I thought the episode sucked, I just would rather didn't kill off people I like. Let's get rid of the ones I don't next time, huh?

Speaking of Marks, though, I loved the bit where Daniel was sitting in the captain's chair and told him to have weapons ready just in case and he responded that he's always ready, he just has to push the button. And Daniel was all "It felt like the thing I should say" and Marks was all "I know" in a tone that suggested he was thinking, "Wow, Jackson, you really suck at this."

Let's see, other than that? I loved the spacing of Anateo (who was Dracula in "Buffy vs. Dracula"!), Daniel and Vala working together, Mitchell and Teal'c, Teal'c's need to kick ass, Mitchell pulling a fast one on everyone involved. "Cam Mitchell, bounty hunter." The alien's "I think I screwed up" right before they got blown up. Also "Damn you, Cam Mitchell." Those aliens were pretty amusing. Too bad they're toast.

In the end, though, it wasn't a bad episode. Just a little shocking. But Mom did remind me that if it's the final season it's not like they have to make sure people live.

SGA - Phantoms

I loved this episode. Not sure I have much of anything to say about it though.

- Liked Rodney complaining about carrying the dead guys around and then when he was carrying Lt. Kagan he assured him that it was no big deal. Loved Carson's reaction to that. See, Carson, you don't know about Rodney on missions. It was nice to see Carson be surprised by it, even if the audience and the team already knows Rodney can be like that.

- Rodney toking pot once in college and it having no effect on him. Other than making him itchy and ate a whole loaf of white bread. Carson's "really?" was amusing, too.

- Poor Teyla getting shot in the leg and being stuck with crazy Colonel Sheppard. (Although I will say that I loved some of his facial expressions druing this. Especially the eyebrows when he told Holland that the next round was on him.) And poor Sheppard. I had a feeling we'd be getting backstory, but this was a lot more than I was expecting. And I really liked how they handled it. (Randomly I noticed that in those scenes Sheppard wasn't wearing his wristband. I have nothing to say about this, just that I noticed.)

- Did Zelenka get his hair cut? Because it really looked like it from the front and the sides but really not so much from other angles.

- I really liked Elizabeth's top.

- I had a feeling that the whole time Rodney was hallucinating the power spikes, but I wasn't sure which part of Carson's experience was fake, so that was really creepy when it turned out Barroso had been dead for awhile but kept coming back. Liked Rodney being the only one to figure out something was wrong with him without having anyone tell him so. Only to get shot!

- JOHN SHOT RODNEY. I did and didn't see that coming. I mean, I knew that John was not in his right mind, but I didn't expect it to actually happen and for Rodney to get hit someplace other than an appendage. And sure John shot Ronon too, but that was a graze on the arm. Rodney's so not going to let this one drop for awhile. The way John says "Go to sleep, Rodney" makes me laugh. Poor John.

So, yes, really liked it. There was some good stuff here. Really loved Teyla at the end taking control and doing her best to keep going. Glad that Kagan isn't dead, though that does seem a little weird to me. There were a couple of details that I kind of wonder about (like why exactly they have to wait for the Daedalus when the 'jumpers have their own DHDs), but those are minor things. It's the character stuff I like.

Next week they'll show their season finales. By which they mean they're going on break until whenever they return in 2007, at which point they'll finish season three. They always say finale at hiatus time, which is ridiculous, a lie, and confusing.

I was supposed to pack today and I've only been partially successful. It was just a lazy day. Luckily most of my stuff is still packed from moving home, so I'm really not in bad shape at all. Woo. And now my eyebrows are freshly plucked and my hair is newly dyed so the day wasn't a complete waste all things considered. :)
