Meetings, Meetings, and More Meetings
Dec. 11th, 2008 10:03 amI want to apologize to any of my friends who I might have told I'd do something for them this week and haven't. My life has become community meetings and newspaper articles. Free time? Virtually non-existent.
It feels like finals week all the time, basically. Even if I thinking I'm starting to settle a little bit. The school district's superintendent even told me she really liked my article covering their November meeting! Other people have said they enjoyed it, but to have someone who was there and is part of the staff give me praise, well, that makes me feel better about those meetings anyway.
Only two meetings next week!
I'm about half-way done with the write-up for last night's fire district meeting. Every time I hear or write "commissioner," I want to add "Gordon."
I don't know if I'll ever really understand this whole grant/bid thing, though. But I've heard no one does completely, so I guess that's a comfort.
Just need to finish this fire district meeting and then Tuesday's port meeting. I spent some time talking with their director yesterday just to give myself some context for what I heard Tuesday. This experience has been a lot like beginning a book mid-sentence, mid-chapter, mid-volume with me scrambling to get my feet more firmly under me.
