Home again after spending the weekend in Spokane. Neesha is lucky I love her like I do because dealing with rain, the dark, unfamiliar streets, and rush hour is not something I especially enjoy. There were one or two red lights that involved me going, "AAGH" in a very Linus-like manner.

But! I made it safe and sound (and home again!) so it's all good.

Thursday night we waited until Neesh's roommate Jaime got off of work at nine so we could all go to dinner. Unfortunately, by the time she got to the apartment, the places we wanted to go were closing down. So we attempted to get Neesh a cow, as she was craving one, but this ended in disappointment and alcohol.

Apparently one of the bars offers Thursday night steak 'n bake for $7. Unfortunately, they were all out. So we ended up at a bar attached to a Chinese restaurant. There was karaoke and sweet and sour chicken. It was amazing. Plus, there was something really strange going on in the parking lot with two guys when we got there. One of the people involved had a serious mullet. Really. That thing meant business. As inebriated as they were acting, though, both men very chivalrously held the doors open for us. There was even door holding on the way out! Wow, Spokane. Who knew?

Friday...I honestly can't really remember what we did Friday. Neesha worked and we went out to a late lunch at Red Robin (yuuum, fries). Then, since we were basically comatose, we went back to the apartment and watched stuff. It was a weekend of Canadian entertainment. Except for The History Boys. But all of the Canadian stuff had the running theme of Paul Gross. So we watched some Due South and Slings & Arrows and Wilby Wonderful.

The next morning, I went with Neesha to the Fall Folk Festival where she was helping with the live broadcast the radio station she works for was doing. The live broadcast was two hours and a lot of fun. I liked a lot of the music, especially the marimba group. Because, really, who can be sad when there are people playing marimbas? However, the 11 year old girl who played the guitar and sang and everyone was gushing over? I thought she sounded like one of the Chipmunks. Too high and wavery and nothing that special. When she was setting up, her dad was all over her. Then during her songs you could see him just off stage, making sure she was doing everything right. Oi.

After the show, we went out to lunch and the mall and Borders. And then we bought carrot cake because those people over there think it is weird, but Neesh and I love it. Also, my mom informs me that my parents' wedding cake was carrot cake. Yuuum. So we stuffed ourselves on that and marathoned Slings & Arrows. Which I have now left in Spokane because I'm pretty sure I would have been harmed in some way had I tried to take it with me.

Not that Neesha and Jaime didn't try to harm me to keep me from leaving. Well. I was flopped on. And threatened. And they physically barred my way at one point. But, alas, I have work tomorrow and had to leave eventually. :( It was a really good weekend, though. Now to figure out when I can go back. :)
