Apr. 7th, 2005 08:00 pmSo I finished reading "The Waste Land" and all of the other material that I was supposed to read with it. Um. Yeah. I don't really understand the poem, but I get the overall feeling of it and that's what all of the good reviews have been pointing out, so maybe it's not such a bad thing that I don't get it. I think it's interesting that Conrad Aiken writes that "the poem succeeds - as it brilliantly does - by virtue of its incoherence, not of its plan; by virtue of its ambiguities, not of its explanations."
I'm not sure if I agree with that. And if I do agree with it, I'm not sure how much I agree.
I'm just going to cross my fingers and hope I'm not called upon to articulate my feelings about it in class. Especially because we're going to try the "UN" style of seating arrangement. No more military-like rows. Let's shift all the desks in Pigott into a big U! The arguments against this on Wednesday mostly consisted of how long this would take to do and then undo. But we're going to try it anyway.
Meh.
Got the second season of SG-1 in the mail today from Mom. Yea! Got Sin City and Nip/Tuck from Kasey. Yea! Watched the first ep of Nip/Tuck. Loved it. Gonna go watch more and do Spanish.
And watch Julian McMahon do Spanish. Heh.
