Dec. 29th, 2003 02:10 pmWell, after a long absence I thought I'd better get in here and update. I've been home for awhile now and am preparing to go back to Seattle on Friday. It's so weird being home. I swear that nothing at all has changed in Royal City since I left. NOTHING. Well, OK, except for the name of the grocery store, but other than that it's all the same. After living near downtown Seattle it's a whole lot quieter over here. Almost too quiet at times. And I never ever thought I'd say that. But after living across from the emergency entrance of a hospital, I suppose views of noise levels change.
However, one of the great things about non-dorm life? Candles. Candles are the greatest things ever. Grr. I've been burning as many as I can before I have to leave. Needless to say my room smells particularly nice.
I've also been able to read a lot more lately. I finally finished Wyrd Sisters which was absolutely hilarious. I also read Idlewild by Nick Sagan in only a couple of days once I was on break. It was very interesting. Sort of The Matrix meets Alice in Wonderland or something like that. I finally finished a mystery (The Silent Cry) I started a couple of years ago and read the first volume of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The other day I found the second volume at Hastings, so hopefully I'll be able to read that as well.
I got some good stuff for Christmas. The fifth season of Buffy on DVD and the newest Myst game, Uru, which I have been playing almost non-stop. No matter how many times I play these games they always freak me out, even though I know nothing is going to jump out and hurt me in them. There's just something about the atmosphere that really gets to me. The music is great. I also got the special internet edition of the RotK soundtrack from my grandma. Lovely lovely precious thing.
Other than all of that rather mundane life stuff, I have the workings of a new story in my head. Perhaps I'll take the plunge and start this one as well. Although this one is going to require some research ahead of time I think.
