annundrielSo, Natasha got me the "official visual companion" to Serenity for my birthday and I'm sitting here flipping through it (it's very shiny) and one thing really comes to my attention. I've thought it before, but it hasn't really hit me.
Just how utterly fantastic is Summer Glau as River? I mean...she just *makes* that character. She gets the craziest, least connected things to say and they just are beautiful when she says them. For example, there's the bit with her and Simon in the storage locker and there's so much emotion from her. And reading the script they're just words and they don't really make sense.
And, yeah. Go acting. I *miss* acting. ::pout::
Also found the scene on Miranda with River's breakdown and Jayne's response that leads to all the FORESHADOWING.
RIVER: RUNtse duh SHANG-DEE, ching DAIwuhtzo, (Merciful God please take me away) make them stop, they're everywhere, every city every house every room, they're all inside me, I can hear them all and they're saying nothing! JAYNE: She's right! Everybody's dead! This whole world is dead for no reason!
WASH. ::sobs:: I guess the fact that Wash was always being the "Isn't there a non-violent way to do this?" guy was a bit of foreshadowing, too. Even on the show. Which would have fit nicely with Alan Tudyk's idea that Wash should be killed sometime Firefly season two. If it had been that is.
Seriously, I will stop posting the same things about Serenity over and over. I'll stop. Really. Maybe I'll come up with new things to say after looking at my book more thoroughly.
Oh, Shepherd Book question. More thought really. Is it possible/likely at all that Book's life pre-shepherd was similar to the Operative's? Was Book the Operative at one point? Could his knowledge and Alliance-pull have come from that?
