Merlin was kind of, um. Blah. All I could think was, what, the writer's wrote some dialog and then said "AND THEN THERE WAS A LOT OF SWORD FIGHTING" and that was it? I got a bit bored.
I mean, I guess they're setting things up for the rest of the season, but...balance isn't really working for me.
I do like it when Merlin gets all wise and Arthur actually recognizes it. Though I wish the character development was a little better and it didn't seem like they were backsliding. I love 'em, I do, but sometimes I worry Arthur's worse to Merlin than he was in the beginning. I mean, shouldn't we occasionally see a little bit more of a glimmer of kindness from him toward Merlin?
I'm going to attribute it to stress and confusion and try not to think too poorly of Arthur. (He is just a character, after all.)
