Last week I posted about a SPN fic that was almost done and I was a little full of doubt over.

Well, it's finished now. Edited and cleaned up and where I want it to be.

But I cannot for the life of me figure out a title. It's driving me crazy.

It's like being an inch away from the finish line only to trip on your shoelaces and fall flat on your face.

I miss academic titles. "Caught in an illusion": Blurred Lines of Fantasy and Reality in Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary. "Only a simple story-teller": Authorial Anxiety and Reader Reception of George Sand. SO MUCH EASIER. BLAH.

Those were two brilliant essays, by the way, and I'm really proud of both of them. I miss 19th Century French Literature. But not some of my classmates.

Set sometime after 5.02.

The majority of this was written prior to 5.02. Not a lot changed, but certain things did get more specific. The biggest difference between this and the original is the ending.

There is a line in here that I wrote and then thought sounded familiar. It's close to a line from Lucille Clifton's poem, "lucifer understanding at last."

Many, many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ginnith and [livejournal.com profile] sdrohc_ratiug. They have the patience of saints. I don't know what I'd do without them. And [livejournal.com profile] olivelavonne who calmly talks things out with me. Thank you, ladies!

Castiel can feel the heat from Dean’s body even through the layers of clothing that separate them. It’s an interesting feeling, Dean pressed hot and insistent against his front, the motel door cool and unyielding behind him. Anyone else and he would feel trapped, Castiel thinks, pinned down. Not with Dean. )
