Apparently Doubt's playwright, John Patrick Shanley, also wrote Joe Versus the Volcano. If I had known that, I probably wouldn't have been surprised by how funny this play was.
He also wrote Moonstruck, which I guess he won an Academy Award for. Plus the film adaptation of Congo, which may not be the most brilliant thing ever, but it's got Dylan Walsh and gorillas and hot-air balloons and it's fun.
So, yes. Doubt was good. Had some small issues with some of the acting and the accents that seemed to come and go at times, but was also seriously impressed by several of the scenes' intensity. Loved that little details from the beginning were repeated throughout and that one moment the audience would be cracking up and the next moment there would be dead silence. It was, I think, a good balance overall.
Very interesting. Especially the end.
