Random Rambley Things in Which I'm a Big Geek
I think it must be *the* time to be a sci-fi geek. In October (*squee!*) we have Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars, which I would say looks fantastic even if I was not a rampant fan. In January we have Battlestar Galactica, which also looks good but has added bonus Jamie Bamber. And then in April there will be Serenity, which anyone should love anyway, sci-fi or no.
I'm sure there are others, but right now it's late and these are the ones I'm personally interested in.
Also, I saw a trailer for The Final Cut today and Stephanie Romanov is in it! The premise sounds interesting, and the cast seems good, but I'd probably see it just to see Lilah on the big screen.
I'd also like to see....Garden State, Vanity Fair, Shaun of the Dead, Finding Neverland, Dear Frankie, and various others. These will all have to wait until Seattle. (People must go with me to movies!!) Bah. Damn small town theaters. Although, Napoleon Dynamite *is* playing in Ephrata, so there may be some hope yet!
Approximately four pages left in Mr. Midshipman Hornblower.
There may be a mouse caught in our mouse-trap, but I'm afraid to look. *joins Orlando in the camp o' weenies* *realizes that sounds kinda dirty* *shrug*
Just a warning - The following bit of PotC fan-rambling is not really well thought out. It's after 12:30 and I'm tired and beware, because I'll probably think about it more and write out something that makes sense and post it and you'll all *hate* me and my obsession. mwuahahahaha. Don't you just love run-on sentences?
I have now read TWO pieces of PotC fanfiction where I have liked Will. (*gasp!* What is wrong with me?!) Well, one where I *liked* him and one where I didn't *dislike* him. I have nothing really against Will. As I told Neesha tonight, he's okay, I just don't like him. He's got the sort of personality where, if he were a real person and three-dimensional, he'd probably drive me nuts by being so damn sure his opinion was the right one.
I guess someone could point out my Commodore Love and say, "Oi! Hypocrite!" But I'm not. (Much. I hope. Am I?) Because Norrington's opinion changes throughout the film. Wait. Damn. Will's opinion regarding Jack changes too. Oh, wait. Norrington's opinion doesn't necessarily change, but he's able to see that perhaps there are other options in what exactly is best. Whereas Will does a full turn around in the Jack Love area. Goes from "You're a filthy pirate" to "I'm gonna wear a dumb-ass hat for you". (Committing fashion faux pas. Now that's *love*, man. Will/Jack. Ew. No.) Norrington's more..."You're a filthy pirate" to "You're still a filthy pirate, but I'll give you one days head start." (And no ugly-ass hats, thank you muchly. Just the wig. Which allows for wig abuse. Which is fun.)
So, um, yeah. That quickly devolved into me losing my spot with the wig abuse...Focus, Mary. Focus.
Maybe Norrington's opinion doesn't change so much as it evolves? Or something?
Methinks I need to watch the movie again. For, like, research purposes. ;)
Man, I'm not very good at explaining myself...and being thoughtful. I try and it just comes out jumbled. I blame the hour and the fact that I wrote the above on impulse. So there. :P
Don't mind the geek in the corner.
