Glee & NCIS

Kurt's dad is the best thing about Glee. Along with some of the performances. My mom and I are agreed on this.

We also discussed the appropriateness of "Poker Face" as the parting song between a mother/daughter duo.

"I know if I was going to sing a song with my mother, that's what I'd choose," she said.

"Oh, yeah. I can totally see you and Frannie belting that one out."

Instead she thinks maybe she'll just send her a copy.

But...back to Burt. Best thing about the show. I enjoy Glee, I do, but it is seriously uneven. There is a lot about it that makes me cringe - and not in a good "oh that's so bad" kind of way, like Nip/Tuck used to do before I finally gave that up (because it started making me cringe in really bad ways - that woman with her build-a-bear thing will HAUNT ME FOREVER) - but then they go and give us that scene with Kurt, Finn, and Burt and it is just...so good.

I stick around for that.

And Brittany. I know I shouldn't love her like I do, but oh. I can't help it. It's Heather Morris' delivery that slays me.

Before that, there was NCIS.

I was afraid that with all of the talk about Ziva becoming a citizen, she'd end up dead by the end of the episode. So I'm relieved she isn't and that everyone on the team is, at least physically, fine. (Except for McGee being a bit cut up.)

That being said, I burst into tears when Paloma entered Papa Gibbs' shop.

I want him to be okay, but I'm worried all my luck character-wise was used up getting through Supernatural.

Other than that, I'm...not entirely sure I understood everything that was going on in the episode. I think I will probably need to rewatch it.

Oh my god, Burt's dad is the BEST. Right when he's about to leave and he shouts, "IT LOOKS GREAT!"? OH MY HEART.

I am so proud that Mike O'Malley is from MY town! <3

That scene with Kurt, Finn, and Burt had me in tears. I wanted Kurt to give his dad a hug afterward, but that little hand touch was just perfect.

I try not to let myself get annoyed over the unevenness of the show. Little things (like Rachel, Quinn, and Mercedes apparently being close enough friends to go spying together) make me laugh at the inconsistencies. For the bigger stuff, I try to blame the drama that is High School.

UGH - I always cry at any of the Kurt/Dad scenes. It really gets to me. His dad is just so great.

I guess I don't really notice any unevenness of the show. I compare it to musicals and how they're always kind of all over the place. And I really like how they haven't made it totally "cheerleaders/jocks vs nerds" because the high school I went to had a bazillion groups and there was a lot of co-mingling. It seems more realistic than the typical "high school" type of situation.

Okay, and the vampire stuff really made me laugh.
