Buffy Stuff

So, I spent part of the day watching my shiny discs of Buffy Season 7. Am currently on episode six. Go me.

There's something you should know about vengeance demons: We don't group with the 'sorry.' We prefer 'Oh, God, please stop hitting me with my own rib bones.'

In cases like this, absence makes the heart grow fonder. I forgot how much I love this show and the characters in it. They may frustrate me, but I still love them. Even if the show really ended for me when Buffy took that swan dive at the end of season five and the show moved to UPN. I couldn't watch it because we don't *get* UPN (which sucked then) and so everything after Buffy's death just sort of is...there. It's still Buffy, but it doesn't always quite connect in my mind with the pre-raising-from-the-dead show.

Anyway, massive hearts. Especially for Anya. And Xander. Anya is hilarious, as usual, but she's also terribly sad and lonely underneath it all and that's just hard to watch. And the Anya/Xander stuff is heartbreaking. It's worse than all of the Buffy/Spike stuff they could throw at me, I think. Especially after watching "Selfless." This exchange at the end just killed me:

XANDER: Anya, wait.
ANYA: Xander, please. Just go away.
XANDER: Whatever's between us, it doesn't matter. You shouldn't be alone in this.
ANYA: Yes, I should. My whole life, I've just clung to whatever came along.
XANDER: Well, speaking as a clingee, I kinda didn't mind.
ANYA: Thanks. For everything.

Xander nods, realizing that this is her rejecting his offer to help.

ANYA: Xander, what if I'm really nobody?
XANDER: Don't be a dope.
ANYA: I'm a dope?
XANDER: Sometimes.
ANYA: That's a start.

Xander sighs and turns and walks away. Anya's left with tears on her cheeks and turns and walks the other way. In the commentary, either David Solomon or Drew Goddard says this about the exchange and Xander's little sigh:

This is when Xander realizes she really is gone for him. It's really the first time, even though they've talked about it and they've broken up, it's really the first time he realizes there's nothing left. Right there, that little sigh.

And it will all lead up to Anya's death and Xander's "That's my girl. Always doing the stupid thing." Sigh.

But that does bring Andrew into the picture, and I have to say I'm looking forward to *finally* getting season 7 Andrew. Yea. And the Andrew and Anya interaction. With Xander thrown in there. Because the three of them are friggin' hilarious.

Why is it hard to find Anya icons? Is she not as iconnable as the rest of the Scoobies?

They totally are. Either Xander or Willow starts it in, like, season one or two and they've been the Scooby Gang ever since.

And then add the irony of Sarah Michelle Gellar being in the Scooby-Doo movies and it's a whole barrel of fun!
