It's Infiltrated Even My Writing!!
Anyone who reads this is going to totally think I'm writing some strange Victorian porn-y thing. I'm not. But in dealing with how characters relate to each other and interact and so on, and even just writing, these sort of things come up.
Plus, I probably have way too much slash in my dose of fanfiction than is entirely good for me.
My writing's being taken over by my subconcious. Or something.
Because. Slash.
It's understandable to see slash in movies and television and books. It's one thing to read slash in fanfiction. I think this is all completely acceptable. But how the frell does slash sneak into your own writing without you knowing it? How??
It's very strange to be sitting there scribbling in the margins of your English notebook, half paying attention to your professor, and come to the realization that two of your characters are flirting with each other. Or rather, one is flirting and the other is confused and slightly annoyed. And they're both men. And they are/were supposed to be related. But I was sitting there writing this completely innocuous bit of filler scene and dialogue and all of the sudden Morrow had a gleam in his eye and was being all flirtatious and teasing with Atherton. And Atherton was increasingly all "It's winter. Brr. I'm cold. Stop looking at me like that."
And it's not supposed to be that way! Really! Morrow was Atherton's slightly elder uncle. Lucy was going to come on the scene and she and Atherton were going to be all snarky at each other, Morrow was going to watch and laugh at them, and some really cool, specific plot stuff was going to happen. And *now*...Morrow may not be Atherton's uncle, but rather a slight acquaintance-kinda-thing and more of a triangle relationship can show up between the three of them. Which could actually happen even if M and A were related, but I'm increasingly liking this idea of them just sort of knowing each other. Y'know, Atherton being the socially adored gentleman and Morrow being the sort of eccentric guy who travels and reads a great deal and likes to tell people random stuff. And Lucy being herself.
And NOT slash. Because that's not what I intend. But then there's the whole thing where it's really hard to make the characters do something that they don't want to do. (Like not be slashy-y.) So possibly Morrow should swing both ways. 'Cause then there's the triangle with Lucy and Atherton and still the fun uncomfortableness of M flirting with A.
And OMG there will NOT be a threesome! ::covers ears and whistles:: No, I didn't even just think that. Nuh-uh, not me.
Frell. I'm screwed.
