The Office UK

Thursday I checked out the first season of the original The Office from the library and yesterday I finished watching it.

I like the American one better. Why? Because Michael Scott does not make me want to kill myself the way David Brent does. Seriously. There are other reasons, but that's just about what it boils down to.

I know a lot of people who prefer the original, but there's something about it that just doesn't work as well for me. I don't think that it has to do with the humor and me "not getting it." I get it, I just...am made so uncomfortable by David Brent that I can't relax enough to find it as funny as I would otherwise. If that makes sense.

Michael makes me incredibly uncomfortable, too, sometimes. I can barely watch "Phyllis' Wedding." But then he goes and does something that redeems him, like the end of "Business School" where he goes to Pam's art show. He's like a kid that can't help himself when he does something stupid. But so far there doesn't seem to be anything redeeming about David. Which is probably the point. But I haven't been able to stop cringing enough to enjoy how awful he is.

Although him singing about "free love on the free love freeway" was pretty hilarious.

Tim, Dawn, and Gareth are great though. And I'm going to see if the library has season two because I would like to see what else happens on the show. Because it is good. Just not my favorite.

When I got to the "Training Day" episode and Tim and the training guy both finally said, "Whatever! I'm leaving!" I felt very much that had I been in the room with them, I would have left too. Geeeez.

If you haven't already...

You should check out 'The IT Crowd'. I think liking Tim, Dawn, and Gareth is a sign you'd enjoy it.=P

Also, if you ever want to do a movie/dinner/anything, you should hit me up, as I am in the land of Royal City...Land, again.

Oh, I've read about The IT Crowd! And would definitely like to check it out.

I'd love to get together and do something! Next Saturday I'm heading to Seattle until July 13, though. But if you were up to doing something in the late afternoon/early evening this week, I'd like to see you before I go.

I'm free every day except Wednesday, and maybe Tuesday night because of getting up early on Wednesday...

Any particular flick you want to see?

Looking at what's playing in Moses, I'm up for anything. Though not particularly interested in anything with Mike Myers or Adam Sandler. And I've seen Indiana Jones already. What about Get Smart?

Would Monday work for you? I'm supposed to work until 3:00 at the library and I'd like to stop at home afterward, but after that I'm free.

As in tomorrow? I could do that! I can drive if you like/pick you up, and Get Smart sounds good to me. :)

Cool! :) I was thinking we could maybe grab dinner before and go to the 7:00 showing? And how about we share the gas prices and you can meet me at my house and I'll drive us to Moses?

How about around 4:30-ish? That way we can get dinner, maybe stop at Hastings (booooks). Take our time.

Brilliant! See you then.
