I've got a loverly bunch of coconuts
Moulin Rouge is on and I have absolutely no desire to watch it. At all. What do you suppose that means? Meanwhile, Gosford Park is on elsewhere and I'm going to watch just for Jeremy Northam and Clive Owen. And the plot of course.
Yesterday while I was in the library Mr. Bush put on his soundtrack to Chicago. I love it. Completely. But I'm also completely spoiled. I kept picking out things I didn't think sounded quite right and it's probably just because I've been listening to the revival CD since '96. In this one, Renee sounds wrong somehow. OK, she can sing, but she can't sing well enough to really carry anything. Catherine Zeta Jones is much better, IMO. My problems with her singing stemmed from the fact that she wasn't Bebe Neuwirth. And they changed some of the words! Grr. I was, however, pleasantly surprised by Richard Gere. He had that slightly 30's/40's/50's thing going for him. (Like Jeremy's singing in Gosford Park!) Still want to see the movie though.
And holy crackers, Batman!! Angel last night! *dies* WHAT a show. I've been waiting for something really good and interesting like this to happen. But Lilah! Can't wait to see how Wes reacts. Hope it's appropriately sad. She deserves that much.
