Gibbet the Banana Girl!
It's too hot. ::pout::
Yesterday Neesh came over and got caught up on the new seasons of SG-1 and SGA. Giggled and laughed and squeed and drooled. It was great! After she left I got to talk to Natasha online. That was great, too. I missed talking to her. <--- (This is a hint for her to get online more often so I can pester her with my annoyingness. 'cause lord knows she doesn't get enough of that during the school year.)
The conversation did yield information regarding the name of my inner slut. Still searching for the name of my inner goddess. If I have one. Natasha also got named "gibbet." Which apparently is the act of covering a body in tar and than hanging it in the village for the birds to peck at. Fun times.
Wonder if we'll talk more about that dichotomy in philosophy this fall...
Yeah. It's too hot. I think I'm gonna save computer time for after the sun goes down and this room cools off a bit. 'cause right now, it's just hot and dry dry dry. And it's making my skin and contacts feel gross. Bleh.

Just don't name your kid "gibbet." Seriously. (http://www.livejournal.com/users/olivelavonne/9317.html)

Also, I read the stories you suggested for SGA. And OMG! Oh so GOOD! "A Better Fate", of the ones you have suggested so far, is my favorite. The characters are so realistic! I like that they have trouble dealing. It's real. I'm up for more suggestions!

::squee!:: I know I told you this already, but I'm so *very* happy that you like the fanfic! A Better Fate is absolutely one of my favorites. I remember when I first started reading it, I was a little worried because of the whole visiting Sheppard's parents thing. They could have been really horrible. Or they could have been really too good to believe. But the author worked it just right and Mr. and Mrs. Sheppard were fantastic and real. It's also probably one of my favorite looks at a progression of the relationship between John and Rodney.
And looking back over it now, there are so many little moments between them that I just love. And part of that is because they both seem so real. Because some of those moments between them aren't perfect, but because of that, well, those imprefect moments become perfect because it's them and they care deeply about each other. And real life isn't perfect anyway.
Or something. I'm a sap. And John and Rodney make me sappy. I've got another recommendation for you sometime that has a completely different spin on John's family.

I know you have some more that you want me to read but I was hoping that you could throw the one in there where Rodney has everyone attracted to him but he turns them down except John and then John ends up blaming him for taking advantage of him. It seemed kind of sad but you sad it ended well.
If there are any more that you want me to read, I'm completely up for it!

Oh! A request! I'm going to point you toward both versions of the story. Icing on the Cake (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=1789) and Strange Attractors (http://www.wraithbait.com/viewstory.php?sid=1790) by Zoe Rayne. It's best to read Icing first, just to understand the scenario in the second one. But I highly recommend having something light and fluffy on stand-by for when you finish. And when you do, I'd really love to talk about it, because it's one of those fics that isn't sugarcoated.
Other than that, I was going to recommend Thicker Than Water (http://yearningvoid.net/stories/julad/000086.html) by Julad which has an entirely different take on John's parents. There's also another one, that I'll save for later, that has a version of Rodney's sister that just kicks ass. But, yeah, the ending of this one makes me melt. ::is sappy::
