The Kurt/Dad scenes are my favorite, tears and all. They're always so solid and well-done.

Personally, I find the show uneven because there will be scenes that make me cringe so hard I almost can't keep watcing. And then they'll follow it with something like that scene with Kurt's dad. The scenes with Kurt's dad always make me go, "Damn, that's good TV. Why isn't more TV addressing this?" The others? Make me wonder why I keep coming back to the show when a quarter of it makes me squirm. (It's the only show I watch with my mom where she has actually gotten up and left because it just made her angry. Those were usually scenes involving Terri.)

I really like how they haven't made it totally "cheerleaders/jocks vs nerds" because the high school I went to had a bazillion groups and there was a lot of co-mingling. It seems more realistic than the typical "high school" type of situation.

I do like that. I never really belonged to a group, I just got along with everyone and kinda floated around. The smart kids were the jocks were in band/choir were in drama. Some people were more one thing than another, but there were no definite lines like you see in a lot of high school-based drama.

The vampire stuff was hilarious.
