- Porn Battle XI is open for prompts on LJ and on DW! FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR. I've been going through, seeing if I can't get some ideas already.

[ profile] blindfold_spn is also still open for prompt fills.

Four weeks of porn. Fun times!

- I wasn't planning on watching the US Being Human, but then [ profile] perfumaniac was watching it so I figured, hey, might as well. I was pleasantly surprised. Prefer the original, but I think this has some nice potential.

- Don't think I mentioned this, but finally got to see Kick-Ass the other night. Watched it with my parents. Mom thought it was really good. Dad liked it but was less enthusiastic about it. It was really hard to tell if he was enjoying it or not while we were watching it, but he did stay for the whole thing (and stayed awake) so that was a pretty good sign. They both recommended it to my brother the next morning.

Meanwhile, The King's Speech is playing in, well, not the local theater, but at least one that's only an hour away. We're tentatively planning on seeing it next weekend. I am excited!

Have I mentioned how much I love Avatar: The Last Airbender? Because I do. A LOT.

Mom and I watched the first part of "Day of the Black Sun" tonight and, ARGH, cliffhanger. Now I have to wait a couple of days for Netflix to send me the next disc.

It's frustrating because I want it now, but it also means the series will last just that little bit longer since I have to wait for it.

I saw True Grit again, this time with [ profile] sdrohc_ratiug, my dad, and - you'll never believe this! - my brother! I invited him and he said yes! As [ profile] sdrohc_ratiug said, ""I can't believe I'm sitting next to your brother. It's like seeing a unicorn. And then going to the movies with if."

The movie remains awesome. There was more of an audience this time, and they were more responsive to the film. Except for the one lady in the row in front of us who dozed off and snored a wee bit.

I also watched the first part of Downton Abbey on Masterpiece Classics with my mom. It was fun playing, "Hey! That Chick/Dude Looks Familiar!" I also really enjoyed it. That sort of thing is right up my alley.

Tomorrow I'm supposed to get Easy A from Netflix, which I am looking forward to. I've gotten back into watching Avatar: The Last Airbender. Don't know why I paused in the first place; it's such a brilliant show. I guess at least by putting it on hold since October I've managed to draw out the length of the series? Sort of? No? Oh well.

Supernatural - 6.11 )

Watching some of a version of The Nutcracker on IFC. It's very strange watching ballet on TV now because it's so quiet, other than the music. I miss hearing the dancers landing, their squeaky feet.

Eric Kripke may lead adaptation of Neil Gaiman's Sandman.

I am not excited about this.

I would perhaps feel more excited were Gaiman involved. Perhaps, as the link states, he'll become involved later down the line. As it stands, I mostly feel anxiety. And a little bit of dread.

- Finish Arthur/Eames fic (SO, SO CLOSE. I EVEN HAVE A TITLE.)

- Work on Arthur/Eames ink!fic

- Work on Dean/Leon

- Continue Jensen/Misha tie!porn

- Watch more Avatar: The Last Airbender

- Take Grandma to hair dresser

- Consider the pros and cons of Inception Big Bang (Goddamn you people. I love you and hate you. You know who you are. ::shakes fist:: )

My mom and I have been watching season one of The OC. In fact, we just finished the first season tonight. I'd seen, like...two episodes when it first started? Wasn't exactly my genre back in the day. Plus, I started working until 11 PM around then so, y'know, that'll put a damper on TV viewing.

It kind of amuses the hell out of me that Oliver - who is manipulative and a liar and has so very many problems - is now douche canoe Wade from Southland. When I finally put that together, it was all, "It's okay, Ryan, you'll get to arrest him in a few years."

Except now Wade's dating one of Sherman's sisters, which I guess is better than trying to steal a girlfriend.

Sorry for being kind of spammy, but I have to say this just to get it out there.

Is anyone else watching The Pacific?

I don't really know what to do with myself right now.

Emotional reactions outside an lj-cut are kind of spoilers, too.

I'm guilty of this occasionally myself.

Ooh, it's going to be tough avoiding Doctor Who reactionary stuff.

Navigating Livejournal is going to become like navigating a minefield.

And I always sucked at Minesweeper.

I love this title sequence so much.

Today's LJ Writer's Block asks what the most embarrassing thing is in your music library. I've got three words for you:

High School Musical.

I blame this primarily on the guys in the cast, especially Lucas Grabeel who plays Ryan Evans. Ryan wears colors and sequins and accessorizes (the hats) and is fabulous and can sing and dance and yes. I love him. ::shrug:: I would be a happy, happy girl if Lucas Grabeel would record some Cole Porter or something just so I can listen to his voice without a bunch of other stuff getting in the way.

Also, "I Don't Dance" from HSM2 is the gayest thing that ever gayed. I mean, you've got one guy singing to another, "I'll show you how I swing." It is the flirtiest baseball game/song 'n dance ever.

Proof. (What did we ever do without YouTube?)

It actually kind of reminds me of Justin and Austin from Ugly Betty now. Y'know, the competitive flirtiness.

So there you go. My most embarrassing thing. I love it, though. And it's so much fun when kids get it from the library and I actually can talk to them about it.

Bonus fact: Mark Indelicato (Justin from Ugly Betty) was once on an episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody auditioning for and then landing the part of Ryan in their production of HSM. (Here is the audition.)

Two episodes left and let's just say I am digging this series so hard and mostly leave it at that.

I feel a little strange saying I want to fangirl fictional versions of real people, but I do. All of them, basically, with a few (obvious, I think) exceptions.

Last night when I was telling Mom all of the people I enjoy the most and feel invested in, I realized the list kept going on. "Oh, there's Brad and Nate and Ray. Oh! Walt! And Garza. Doc Bryan. Poke. Rudy. That one guy that's now on that one show..."

I may have to get the book from the library now.

Meanwhile, (back at the ranch) I am half-way through the first Sookie Stackhouse book, Dead Until Dark. I have to say, I like Sookie a lot better in the book. So far anyway. I feel that way about a couple of characters, actually. I think part of it may have to do with not having to hear them speak.

It amuses me that Vampire Bill listens to Kenny G.

Dear Alexander Skarsgard,

Way to be a hotass.

Keep up the good work!

There have been some things on this season of How I Met Your Mother that I don't particularly care for (plots involving Robin and Barney, mostly).

But then the episode "Girls vs. Suits" happened.

Not only did they have Tim Gunn as Barney's tailor (Tim Gunn! Neil Patrick Harris! In the same room!!), it also included this number (which I wish I could find a non-flipped version of):

For a show on Nickelodeon, iCarly is strangely inappropriate. (Or maybe perfectly inappropriate.) I love it!

Last night this line made Mom and I go, "Did he really just say that?"

SPENCER: I gotta quit saying witty things before I blow.

He's talking about blow darts. He and Sam were having an assassin battle. Nickelodeon won't let them use paintball guns, but that line is fine. They constantly have things that aren't going to mean much to a younger audience. It amuses me greatly.

I have learned a great deal from novels. Some of it is even true.
- Dean Koontz, Brother Odd (p. 33)

I love these Odd Thomas books.

Today there was pho and coffee, ficcing and excellent company, hanging out in a weirdly Seattle-like bistro/market. And now I am comfortable and warm and someone bought me Little Dorrit on DVD. Life is good.

So Thomas Kinkade's Christmas Cottage is on Lifetime right now. But I am watching Muppets: Letters instead because OMG Jared. I'm sorry, but I just can't.

But talking about Jared filming it led to this conversation:

ME: I think Jensen was doing A Few Good Men on stage at the time...That. Um. Doesn't sound right.
MOM: Has Jared ever done A Few Good Men?

We're horrible. I love it.

Last night the second, and final, part of Alice aired on SyFy (uuuugh channel). I really enjoyed it. Way more than Tin Man, which I also enjoyed but found overall fairly dull. And confusing. Alan Cumming was the best part of that thing.

Anyway. Alice was pretty solid. I never wanted to smack Alice around, not really, and Hatter was basically amazing. (And then I had to look him up and go, duh, that dude from Primeval.) But it's still leaving me all think-y with it's similarities to Tin Man.

Really vaguely spoilery for both )

Sorry, Tim Burton, but there is NO WAY I'm going to love your Mad Hatter as much as I love this one. (D'aww. HIS FACE.)

In Things That Don't Make Me Really Happy news, Mom tells me that her boss finally came back from her vacation. She and her husband went on a cruise. When Mom asked her how it was, she said it was fine but she wouldn't have gone if she'd known there were going to be so many gays and lesbians there.

So I am going to go write gay porn to counterbalance the stupid.
